Second Sunday in Lent Isaiah, Chapter 50, verse 10 Who among you fears the LORD, heeds his servant’s voice? Whoever walks in darkness, without any light, yet trust in the name of the LORD and rely upon their God! The English Standard version of the bible states this verse accordingly, “Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant?   Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.” It has been said the body is an excellent servant but a poor master. When we obey the voice of our servant the body it ultimately leads to our destruction and eventually we walk in darkness. Yet, when we trust in the Lord and master our bodies from addiction and or lusts of the flesh we thrive. God’s ultimate wish is for us to thrive. Ember Saturday Isaiah, Chapter 44, verse 8 Do not fear or be troubled. Did I not announce it to you long ago? I declared it, and you are my witnesses. Is there any God but me? There is no other Rock, I know of none! Our God knows we are fearful and troubled and that we seek refuge in other god’s such as sex, drugs and rock and roll. Yet, still he is patient and tells us plainly there is no other. He is that is. There is no other rock (refuge) from the terrors that bind us. Washingtons birthday-BIO Day   Isaiah, Chapter 43, verse 5 Fear not, for I am with you; from the east I will bring back your offspring, from the west I will gather you. This chapter of Isaiah is about the redemption and restoration of Israel which appears to have been fulfilled in the creation of the State of Israel. Yet in a deeper sense it includes us Catholic and Christians. As we celebrate this day let us also contemplate the deep love and sacrifice our God made to get us here and remember He is with us.
