ALL HOLLOWS EVE Job, Chapter 39, Verse 22 He laughs at fear and cannot be terrified; he does not retreat from the sword. This verse refers to the strength of a war horse. The ancient Greek army would wrangle wild horses and bring them in from the wild in order to train them for war. Not many possessed the strength or willingness to obey needed to be utilized by the Greek cavalry. Some were made into pack animals; some were simply discarded. But those that qualified after being broken were no longer unruly or rebellious or out of control. The war horses – the ‘meek’ – would now charge into battle under control of their masters and maneuver according to his commands. A meek horse was one that had kept its strength but placed it under the authority of the one who had tamed it. When Christ said, “Blessed are the meek,” He was using a military term. Strength under control. Power under authority. Formidable determination in the face of the constant onslaughts of the enemy. ...

Job, Chapter 39, Verse 16 She cruelly disowns her young and her labor is useless; she has no fear . Job is now being confronted by He that Is. “The wings of the ostrich flap away; her plumage is lacking in feathers. When she abandons her eggs on the ground and lets them warm in the sand, she forgets that a foot may crush them, that the wild beasts may trample them; she cruelly disowns her young and her labor is useless; she has no fear. For God has withheld wisdom from her and given her no share in understanding. Yet when she spreads her wings high, she laughs at a horse and rider. Discourse of God [1] ·          Enter God. He comes down in a whirlwind and poses a number of rhetorical questions to Job, all of which are designed to show Job how small he is in relation to the universe...which, by the way, God created.  ·          God's wisdom isn't like human wisdom. After all...

Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 18-25 18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. 19 For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; 20 for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; 23 and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope . For who hopes for what one see ’ s 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance. The glory that believers are destined to share with Christ far exceeds the sufferings ...

FEAST OF ST. SIMON AND JUDE Job, Chapter 37, Verse 24 Therefore people fear him; none can see him, however wise their hearts. We cannot see God, but we can see His justice which condemns self-righteousness and is good to all; both the evil and the virtuous. Elihu proclaims God’s majesty is revealed in the entire universe and due to this majesty men are fearful. Who has seen God [1] The First Letter of John begins: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.” “No one has ever seen God”? Wait . . . we definitely believe Jesus is God, and lots of people saw Jesus during his lifetime; doesn’t that count? What’s going on? Also John 1:18 ( “No one has ever seen God. The only son God, who is at the Father’s side, has revealed him.” ) and 1 Timothy 6:16 ( “. . . the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who...
