Ezekiel, Chapter 32, Verse 11
11 I will fill many nations with horror; their kings will shudder at you, when I brandish my sword in their faces. They will tremble violently fearing for their lives on the day of your fall.

The opposite of fear is love.  Love should be the foundation of our lives. In today's gospel The Lord makes this perfectly clear. However, if we are not filled with love as a result of the vacuum left in our hearts we will most likely be filled with fear thus becoming a nation ruled by the cycle of violence and the sword. To avoid this cycle of hate we must be merciful as well as just.   If you have time today would be a good day to pray the Rosary for the United States of America.[1]

Today is the fourth day of the Novena to St. Joseph.
