DAY 35 - MARY, REFUGE OF SINNERS, PRAY FOR US
Join us for Rosary Coast to Coast!
In the Battle of Lepanto, the Turks believed Christianity had become so weak, it was time to move in and "deal the last blow." Outnumbered, Pope St. Pius V called upon the world to pray the rosary. Miraculously, victory was won on October 7, 1571, which brought the Feast of Our Lady of Victory.
Here we are again, my brothers and sisters. The enemy appears to be attempting to "deal the last blow." There is no doubt we are living in diabolically influenced times. This, while Godless leaders and influencers in our nation have usurped the phrase, “This is a battle for the soul of America,” as their evil abominations unto God easily become a “new normal” in the lives of our loved ones?! Those who choose to stand in the “Spirit of Truth” are mocked, persecuted, abandoned and put out?! The time is now to do the "Lepanto thing!"
PLEASE join us for Rosary Coast to Coast on the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, October 7, 2023 at 3:00pm CST to pray the Glorious Mysteries as a nation. It simply means to gather with a group of 2 or more outside (if possible) as we call upon the powerful intercession of Our Lady to Heal Our Land!!
Go to RosaryCoasttoCoast.com to find more information and register your group.
Let’s … UNITE AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS!!
CATCH EXCELLENCE
The desire to enter the fight is a desire to enter into a genuine training in holiness, pursuing the goal of becoming one of God’s champions. St. Paul put it this way:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize” (1 Cor 9:24-27).
St. Paul talks about a strict training and a desire to run in such a way as to win. The famous Green Bay Packer coach, Vince Lombardi, would have heard these words from St. Paul many times in his life, as he went to Mass every day. In fact, he admitted, “I derive my strength from daily Mass and Communion.”
As Coach Lombardi describes what it takes to be number one, see if you do not recognize a bit of St. Paul in his words:
“And in truth, I’ve never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn’t appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat. I don’t say these things because I believe in the ‘brute’ nature of men or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour — his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear — is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle — victorious.”
Sadly, far too many people have become conditioned to cower when they hear the words, “strive for perfection.” In the coddled culture in which we live, the reflex response is, “I will never be perfect.” Yet, Coach Lombardi said, “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” (Excerpt from Church Militant Field Manual).

Tobit, Chapter 6,
Verse 15
When
we are filled with the essence of Christ, we fear neither man nor demon.
Tobit[1]
- When they
arrived at Media, Azariah said they needed to stop at the home of Raguel –
their relative and the father of Sarah.
- Raguel means
“Friend of God.”
- Azariah told
Tobias he was the nearest relative and had the right (maybe even
obligation) to marry her. He would also inherit half her father’s
estate.
- Tobias was not
thrilled with that since he had heard about the seven previous
husbands. He knew his parents would be overcome with grief were he
to die.
- Tobias obeyed
his father’s request. He left Nineveh and moved back to Ecbatan to
live with Raguel and Edna. Tobias lived until he was 117.
- Before he
died, he heard about the destruction of Nineveh and knew that its
prisoners were taken to Media. Tobias blessed God.
The
final battle[2]
We see that Tobias is concerned about the battle. Likewise, like Tobias we are confronted with evil that wishes to destroy families for the final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family.
Don’t be afraid … because anyone who operates for
the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be contended and opposed in
every way, because this is the decisive issue … however, Our Lady has already
crushed its head”
(Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fatima)
The Latin phrase, motus in fine velocior, is
commonly used to indicate the faster passing of time at the end of an
historical period. I’ve heard it said that it means, “Things accelerate toward
the end.” We are living through an historical hour which is not necessarily the
end of time, but certainly could be marked as the end of an era. I wrote about the potential
significance of the 100 years since Fatima, which could be the “100 years of Satan.” In the
United States, according to those who work in exorcism ministry, there is an
alarming increase in demonic activity (see HERE). In the culture, we are seeing an
overreach of evil never witnessed before. It is important to understand Satan’s
names: “diabolos” means
“he who places division or
separation,” and “daio,” the root of “demon,” means “to
divide.” In these final 5 years of Satan’s reign, we have all seen
how these outrageous demonic activities have caused great division in our
families and communities. As Satan seductively coaxes more and more people away
from the designs of God, these separated people look back, pointing an
accusatory finger at those who remained with the Lord, saying, “You are the
cause of division because you chose not to join the rebellion!!” … “Join us at
this *new and modern* separated place, and we will find unity again!!” Of
course, strong and devout Catholics simply cannot join the ranks of the
separated, and so division continues to increase.
National Cheeseburger
Day[3]
National Cheeseburger Day is a day of appreciation for cheeseburgers. Typically, when cooking a cheeseburger, cheese is added to a hamburger patty a few seconds before the patty is removed from the heat. This allows the cheese to melt onto the burger. According to an obituary published by Time in 1964, Lionel Sternberger created the cheeseburger in 1920s, when he placed cheese on top of a hamburger as an experiment. Sternberger was 16 and worked as a cook in his father's sandwich shop in Pasadena, California. Aside from cheese, other cheeseburger toppings include ketchup and mustard. This tasty national holiday is celebrated each year on September 18th.

PART TWO: THE CELEBRATION OF THE CHRISTIAN
MYSTERY
SECTION TWO-THE SEVEN
SACRAMENTS OF THE CHURCH
CHAPTER ONE-THE SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN
INITIATION
Article 1-THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
I. What is This Sacrament Called?
1214 This sacrament is called
Baptism, after the central rite by which it is carried out: to baptize (Greek
baptizein) means to "plunge" or "immerse"; the
"plunge" into the water symbolizes the catechumen's burial into Christ's
death, from which he rises up by resurrection with him, as "a new
creature."
1215 This sacrament is also
called "the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit,"
for it signifies and actually brings about the birth of water and the Spirit
without which no one "can enter the kingdom of God."
1216 "This bath is called
enlightenment, because those who receive this [catechetical] instruction are
enlightened in their understanding
. . . ." Having received in Baptism the Word, "the true light
that enlightens every man," the person baptized has been
"enlightened," he becomes a "son of light," indeed, he
becomes "light" himself:
Baptism is
God's most beautiful and magnificent gift....We call it gift, grace, anointing,
enlightenment, garment of immortality, bath of rebirth, seal, and most precious
gift. It is called gift because it is conferred on those who bring nothing of
their own; grace since it is given even to the guilty; Baptism because sin is
buried in the water; anointing for it is priestly and royal as are those who
are anointed; enlightenment because it radiates light; clothing since it veils
our shame; bath because it washes; and seal as it is our guard and the sign of
God's Lordship.
