DAY 16 - VIRGIN MOST VENERABLE, PRAY THAT WE RECEIVE THE FRUIT OF CHARITY!

GOD'S WORD
"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." (1 John 4:16)
HEROES' WORDS
"Our hearts were made for you, O Lord, and they are restless until they rest in you." -St. Augustine

"The fruits of charity are joy, peace, and mercy; charity demands beneficence and fraternal correction; it is benevolence; it fosters reciprocity and remains disinterested and generous; it is friendship and communion: Love is itself the fulfillment of all our works. There is the goal; that is why we run: we run toward it, and once we reach it, in it we shall find rest." -St. Augustine

"Charity brings to life again those who are spiritually dead." -St. Thomas Aquinas

"Charity is the form, mover, mother, and root of all virtues." -St. Thomas Aquinas
MEDITATION
By this power of the Spirit, God's children can bear much fruit. He who has grafted us onto the true vine will make us bear "the fruit of the Spirit: . . . love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." "We live by the Spirit"; the more we renounce ourselves, the more we "walk by the Spirit." (CCC 736)

Fruits of the Holy Spirit: Supernatural works that, according to St. Paul, manifest the presence of the Holy Spirit. The one who performs them recognizes God's presence by the happiness he experiences, and others the divine presence by witnessing these good works (Gal 5:22-23). They are, in other words, identifiable effects of the Holy Spirit. In the Vulgate text they are: charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, mildness, faith, modesty, continency, and chastity. (Fr. John Hardon, Modern Catholic Dictionary)

Fruit of the Spirit and fullness of the Law, charity keeps the commandments of God and his Christ: "Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love." (CCC 1824)
PRAY A ROSARY
Choose either:
  1. Rosary of the Day: Sorrowful Mysteries

THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES OF THE HOLY ROSARY

Prayer before the recitation: Sign of the cross. Hail Mary.

In petition (first 27 days): Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow white buds to remind thee of thy joys, each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery, each 10 bound together with my petition for a particular grace. O Holy Queen, dispenser of God's graces, and Mother of all who invoke thee, thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding. Show thyself my Mother!

Fr. Ripperger's Recommended Prayers for
Breaking Oppression and Sending Back Evil
Until the Election is Called

Consecration of One's Exterior Goods to the Blessed Virgin Mary

(This prayer is particularly useful for breaking various forms of oppression. By relinquishing what belongs to us into the hands of the Blessed Virgin, Satan cannot touch them. This is a strong prayer of protection on you and yours):

I; (Name), a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before. In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee, O Mary, this day for my Mother and Mistress. Knowing that I have received rights over all my exterior goods by the promulgation of the Natural Law by the Divine Author, I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, all of my exterior goods, past, present and future; I relinquish into thy hands, my Heavenly Mother, all rights over my exterior goods, including our President, the fairness, honesty and accuracy of the outcome of the election, and our country and I retain for myself no right of disposing the goods that come to me but leave to thee the entire and full right of disposing of all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity. As I now interiorly relinquish what belongs to me exteriorly into thy hands, I entrust to thee the protection of those exterior goods against the evil one, so that, knowing that they now belong to thee, he cannot touch them. Receive, O good and pious Virgin, this little offering of what little is, in honor of, and in union with, that subjection which the Eternal Wisdom deigned to have to Thy maternity; in homage to the power which both of You have over this poor sinner, and in thanksgiving for the privileges with which the Holy Trinity has favored thee. Trusting in the providential care of God the Father and thy maternal care, I have full confidence that thou wilst take care of me as to the necessities of this life and will not leave me forsaken. God the Father, increase my trust in Thy Son's Mother; Our Lady of Fair Love, give me perfect confidence in the providence of Thy Son. Amen.

Sending Evil Back

(Fr. Chad Ripperger comments that the following prayer may appear harsh, in that it seems to seek evil befall on another, yet it is meant to expose evil and to teach that evil does not win. And, in fact, choosing evil will, eventually, lead to bad repercussions)

Jesus and Mary, I ask that if it be Your Holy Will, that any curses or evil sent against the President or the election process be sent back from whence they came.

John, Chapter 8, Verse 42

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would LOVE me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.

God is loving, a love so great that to make right the sin of man God took the punishment due upon Himself. In the creed we allude to this he “descended into hell and on the third day he arose from the dead” in those three days he suffered the punishment due to us; such is his love. Those who love Christ are the seed of Abraham and those who do not are the seed of Satan. We are either the servant of the world or the covenant of love formed through Abraham.

Chapter 8 of John’s Gospel depicts the face-off between two conflicting worldviews. The flawed worldview of the Jewish leaders caused their inability to see Jesus as a person. Nor were they able to understand that He was the second person of the Trinity: God the Son; the messiah. They unlike Abraham could only believe what they could see, such as power and feared being displaced by the Romans. They did not understand the love of God was the willingness to serve which compels one to be, know and do the work of their Creator, God.

Spiritual leadership is often an act of generosity.

Generosity[2] is the virtue of giving not taking. Share the toilet Paper!

Generosity is giving to another person something of yours as an act of freewill, without obligation. Generosity requires an awareness of your own freedom—I choose to give this gift—and the decision to make good use of that freedom—I choose to do good.

Although you may think first of generosity in monetary terms, often non-monetary gifts, such as time, encouragement, hope, laughter, hospitality, service, and forgiveness, may have the most value.

·         If you are giving to right a wrong then you are acting from justice, not generosity.

·         If you are giving out of a sense of obligation you are acting from reciprocity, not generosity.

·         If you are giving out of a sense of loyalty you are acting from solidarity, not generosity.

·         If you are giving out of a sense of self-interest, it is selfishness, not generosity.

·         If you are giving to someone you love, then you are acting from love, not generosity.

·         Generosity is your decision to act in opposition to hate, contempt, envy, anger, and even indifference.

·         Generosity keeps good company, as the following combinations of virtues show:

  • Generosity + courage = heroism
  • Generosity + justice = equity
  • Generosity + compassion = benevolence
  • Generosity + mercy = leniency
  • Generosity + gentleness = kindness
  1. Help when you can.
  2. Perform random acts of kindness such as these examples.
  3. Give without hope of reward and without anticipation of gratitude.
  4. Enjoy the virtue of generosity.

Sardine Day[3]

As an amazing source of B12 and Omega Fatty Acids, turning your nose up at sardines could be preventing you from enjoying a delicious addition to your meal. Sardine Day is your opportunity to learn about these little fish and how you may already have been enjoying them without knowing. Sardines originally got their name from the Mediterranean Island of Sardinia. The English got this term from Grecian history, where the word was used to describe the red color of the fish and the region of the sea where they were popularized. A large number of nutrients found in this fish, combined with the efficacy with which they could be packaged and shipped turned them into an important trade item in the region for centuries.

Sardines are used in many dishes and are closely related to the anchovies that are served with Caesar Salad and as a base flavor in Worcestershire sauce. They’re also one of the main ingredients in “Gentleman’s Relish” a popular sardine-based spread used in England for many dishes, or just served up on buttered bread.

How to celebrate Sardines Day

The best way to celebrate Sardines day is to attempt to overcome your fear of this delicious fish. They typically come in tins, pickled or packed in oil, or even packed in with mustard to preserve them. Thousands of recipes exist that call for these fish in either their fresh or canned form. A traditional Caesar Salad starts with a sardine being pressed into the wood of the bowl it’s served in to provide a slightly fishy flavor, with those who prefer a stronger flavor having two sardines used.

They’re popularly served as part of a lunch-time snack, often with tomato and fresh avocado on top of a crisp cracker and a sardine. They’re also commonly added to soups and sandwiches to bolster their flavor. In fact, if you’ve ever had soup with a fish-based broth, it is likely the sardine that was used to create the fish stock. You’ve been enjoying sardines for ages, and Sardines Day is a great opportunity for you to find out how much you love sardines!
