Introduction: From the Forerunner to the Nation Some months carry a weight that isn’t on the calendar. This one does. Every First Friday I pray the Holy Face novena in the sidebar — a quiet rhythm of reparation and preparation. But this year the nine days fall in a way that demands more than a sidebar. They begin on June 24 , the Nativity of St. John the Baptist , and end on July 4 , the 250th anniversary of the United States . The Forerunner to the Christ leading into the quarter‑millennial mark of a nation that desperately needs a voice crying in the wilderness. This is not politics. It is repentance. It is not nostalgia. John the Baptist stands at the hinge between the old world and the new, calling Israel back to truth so they can recognize the Face of Christ when He appears.
